Look Ma, I Got More!

Thanks go to Mama Bear for giving this to me. I find it very moving to know that I have her heart after knowing her for such a short time. Thank you!

I in turn give this to Allan, Robin, Kati, Biddie, Merelyme, Joy and PHc. They are all wonderful and supportive friends. I am so lucky to have gotten to know them.

*******************************************************
I'd like to thank Kati for giving me this award. I am always surprised and flattered when I get an award. Getting one that says I am an amazing blogger is touching to say the least. Thank you Kati!

I don't think it was specified how many people I'm supposed to pass this on to so I decided to pass it on to three people. Three is a good number I think.

May I have the envelope please?

Allan: His blog is a little bit of everything; fiction, personal, and political. I always enjoy visiting. I never know what I am going to find, and I always like what I do.

Tiffany: Another blog that has a bit of everything but is quite consistent in making me laugh. Oh and nothing beats her coverage of the State of the Union Address. Best of all, I think she has decided to make it an annual event.

Jim: The more I read this guy the more impressed I am with what he has to say. He writes intelligently about politics, disability and spiritual issues, all in a very open and informed manner.

*******************************************************

When Kati gave me the Amazing Blogger award she said on her blog that, “The every day battles this woman fights are amazing. I hope she continues to make much progress in these battles and soon begins to see that she really IS winning the war!”

First off, wow! Secondly, I lost a battle recently. The red tape got me. I did not hear back from the woman at the referral department at my doctor’s office. I did receive a message on my answering machine on Tuesday. It was from someone else at my doctor’s office asking me to call them.

When I got a hold of the woman she informed me that the referral department had no luck pleading my case to Medicaid. They were firm. If Medicare does not cover it then they would not either (which is strange as hell considering that I know for a fact that Medicaid covers plenty of things Medicare does not).

Anyway it was a nurse I was talking to and she asked me if I would be willing to set up an appointment with the dietitian and work out a payment plan. Considering that I would probably have to see her twice at the very least (at a cost of $216 no less), I said no.

Finally, the nurse did offer to help. The nurse said that she would talk to the dietitian and see what her recommendations were. She asked if I was a vegetarian and I told her that I wasn't, but that I wouldn’t eat pork and didn’t eat much red meat.

She asked if I had any nut allergies. I told her that I didn’t and that in keeping with the research I had done online I was eating plenty of nuts, fruit, and cheese. In fact I told her at this point you might as well take some cane, weave it around me, and call me a gift basket, I’ve eaten so much of them. I also informed her that the only food allergy I have is milk. I also told her to let the dietician know that my drinking Ensure was not an option.

The nurse said that she would get back in touch with me but that it will be a while. Apparently the dietician only comes to my doctor’s office every other week. So if the nurse remembers to talk to the dietician and get back to me about it I might have some suggestions. I’m not going to hold my breath though.

I think next month when I have the money I will go to GNC and see if they have any weight gain powder that you don’t have to mix with milk. I hope it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

*******************************************************

I talked about a “global mood” a few weeks back. I swear it is happening again. Has anyone else seen it? Several of my friends (both online and in “real life”) seem to have turned into walking proofs for Murphy’s Law recently. A couple of them are actually making Murphy look like a freaking optimist.

Granted it is not happening to everyone I know, but it’s happening enough to make me go WTF?!

Again, I don’t seem to be affected by this (though I’m a bit pissed at what my friends are having to go through). The most I can complain about is losing the red tape battle and my achy body. After pushing too hard over the weekend and dealing with all the wacky weather this week it feels about 20 years older than it is. It could feel much worse though.

Not to whine (because I know that there are many people out there who have it truly rough), but nothing kicks my ass and reminds me that my body is not what it used to be/should be, like cleaning my apartment. Normally I take three days to do it and this time I did it in two. My bones are not happy. My muscles weren’t either but my heaven sent massage therapist fixed those for the most part. LOL! She asked me what was up with my body as soon as she placed her hands on my back.

Anyway, I also wanted to let you know you probably won't see me around until Monday. My company arrived today and I'll be a bit busy. I hope you have a great weekend

Pretty soon your sidebar is going to be a mile long. Awesome.

It's a shame about the red tape, though. :(

Dear Gift Basket,

Thank you for the laugh. I actually snorted, something I don't think I've ever done.

Thanks for the award....you know I love you, and I'm sorry that the dietician didn't work out.

Enjoy your company and I'll see you when you get back!

Congratulations on your well-deserved awards. I look forward to checking out the blogs of the people you decided to pass them on to.

That sucks about the red tape. Fingers crossed the nurse comes through for you.

Hope you have a lovely weekend too :)

You know I think through some good research and time you can plot a diet that will help you...I say this because while a dietician can be helpful, they can also leave you feeling more frustrated and confused too. Been through that.

I cannot wait to clean house, at this point I am waiting for some warm weather so we can scour the house. Get rid of all of these nasty germs.

Glad all is right with us :)

Congratulations on your much deserved and wonderful awards! :)

Also, I looked up the supplement I mentioned before. Here's a link to it...you just mix it with food (use a wisk to mix it with water first, then you can add it to everything, even drinks) all day. The dietician we had at the hospital for my mother told us about this. Looking at the web page about it, it says it's appropriate for burn injuries too, but ask your nurse perhaps first.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear about the dietician thing. Maybe after BushCo gets the boot ...

I've definitely had Murphy's Law blowing up in my face the last few months. What's up with that?
